INTENSIVES & RETREATS

The Julianna Poor Memorial Counseling Center at Houston's First Baptist Church offers a vareity of services to meet the needs of the church body and others. Topical retreats and intensives are one form of ministry that we provide. The usual location of the these retreats is at the Hunt Retreat located just outside of Houston. Some retreats may be held at alternative sites.

INTENSIVES

From Purpose to Passion
The Julianna Poor Memorial Counseling Center of Houston's First Baptist Church is pleased to announce the offering of From Purpose to Passion Counseling Intensives for individuals and couples. These intensives are from a Spiritual Direction perspective and emphasize the individual's or couple's Spiritual Formation. All intesives are led by the professional staff of the counseling center.

Half-Day Individual Intensives
Are you struggling with making sense of life? Are you obsessed with resolving problems that will not go away? in this intensive, we will explore what it would be like to experience God in the midst of your circumstances, instead of focusing on changing your circumstances.

All-Day Couple Intensives
James asks us why we fight. His answer-because we do not get what we want (James 4:1–2). In this intensive we will explore the true source of conflict and seek to identify and eliminate what stands in the way fo intimacy with God and each other.

RETREATS

The Retreats are led by licensed professional counselors and have a fee. The cost of the retreat can be discussed with the counselor who is leading the retreat.The length of the retreats range from all day to weekend in length.

Men's Sexual Purity
Godly Pursuit-Journey of Hope: This retreat is a Friday night, all day Saturday, and Sunday morning . There are three retreats offered a year. The topics covered are sexual purity, accountability, strengthening relationships, marriages, and spiritual growth. The retreats are usually in the fall, winter, and spring.
