FOUNDATION OF PRAYER
On August 24, 2008, during the renovation of our Worship Center, the HFBC family laid a "foundation of prayer" on the bare concrete by writing the names of people for whom we are praying to receive Christ.
Thousands upon thousands of names were written that day. Among them were names of individuals and families, countries and people groups, celebrities and politicians, high schools and universities. Even those with unknown names were represented, such as "future spouse" and "future children and grandchildren." Illustrating the diversity of Houston and the Body of Christ, names and prayers were written in English, Spanish, Korean, French, Chinese, and Farsi. View images from that special day in our "Foundation of Prayer" photo gallery.
Now that the new carpet is installed and the Worship Center reopened on September 7, 2008, our church family will literally be "praying over" these names for years to come. To keep the opportunity available for others, sections of carpet were removed from the Worship Center floor on either side of the platform to provide a place for people to continue to write names on the foundation. You are invited to do so any time the Worship Center is open.
Interceding in prayer on behalf of others is a privilege and a responsibility. There is great power in prayer, and going before our Heavenly Father for the sake of those around us has a mighty and eternal impact on them, on us, and on the Body of Christ. Praying for people to receive Christ as their Lord and Savior is perhaps the greatest intercession we can make.
SHARE YOUR STORIES!
Just hours after his mommy wrote his name on the bare floor of the Worship Center, a seven-year old boy told his daddy he was ready to accept Christ as his Lord and Savior. The father and son returned to the Worship Center that night, circled the boy's name, and wrote a footnote: "August 24 - I was saved tonight. Thank you God!"
What about you? Do you know of how God has moved in the lives of others whose names were written on the foundation? If so, let us know using the form below. We would love to hear the stories, and share the praise with others, too!
