FOUNDATION OF PRAYER

“… open their eyes that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a share among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.” – Acts 26:18 (Holman)
Interceding in prayer on behalf of others is a privilege and a responsibility. There is great power in prayer, and going before our Heavenly Father for the sake of those around us has a mighty and eternal impact on them, on us, and on the Body of Christ. Praying for people to receive Christ as their Lord and Savior is perhaps the greatest intercession we can make.
As a body of believers, Houston’s First Baptist Church laid a “foundation of prayer” on the floor of the Worship Center during the renovation process. Tens of thousands of names were written on the foundation--names of individuals, families, people groups, and nations for whom we are praying to receive Christ.
Now that the new carpet is installed and the Worship Center reopened on September 7, our church family will literally “pray over” these names for months—even years—to come.
The first known fruit from this "foundation of prayer" was seen that evening when a 7-year old boy told his daddy during the evening worship service that he wanted to accept Christ and be baptized. His name had been written on the foundation earlier that day! After the evening service, he and his daddy returned to the Worship Center and, next to his name, he wrote, "Thank you God for this day! I got saved!"
He was baptized in the new Worship Center on reopening day, September 7.
