CHAPTER 2: CAPITAL PROJECTS
Sunday morning or evening worship is not the only hour God’s name is exalted. Every weekday and weekend, our church is actively engaged in being a relevant biblical community – through sports, Vacation Bible School, preschool Sunday school classes, and more. New directional signage and renovated spaces are just two examples of the different capital projects needed to better serve members and visitors alike. These improvements will enable us to improve every area of outreach, all week long.
With the construction loan for the Worship Center Renovation paid off in full in late 2009, Chapter 2 of the capital campaign got underway. During that time, all contributions made to the capital campaign were allocated between capital projects on our campus (60%) and missions endeavors in the city and around the world (40%).
Some of the capital improvements included projects such as:
- Renovation of the Preschool Suite
- Children's multi-purpose room for use by Kids' Worship, First Baptist Academy, and other users
- Electronic security and check-in for preschool and children
- Fitness and Recreation Center (FRC) renovations, including new carpet, track surface, improved lighting in gyms, rubberized flooring in weight room, new side basketball goals, replacement of ceiling tiles in racquetball courts and first floor overhangs, and more
- Outdoor way finding signage
- Interior way finding signage
- Carpet replacement – Level 2 and Level 3 west
- Energy conservation-building automation system
- Remodeling of Creative Suite (Level 3) for the Creative Services and Production Departments
- Elevator improvements
- Central Plant improvements
- Security improvements, including increased camera coverage and a control center for monitoring
