Adult Bible Study Resources

Created and maintained by Houston's First member Joe Phan on a voluntary basis, this site provides Adult Bible study teachers using LifeWay Christian Resources' "Explore the Bible" curriculum with valuable resources as they prepare their lessons.

Breakaway Ministries

Breakaway is a non-denominational, weekly Bible study on the campus of Texas A&M University whose mission is "to introduce college students to Jesus Christ and call them to walk with Him for a lifetime." In 1989, Pastor Gregg Matte founded Breakaway in his apartment as a student and served as its Director until coming to Houston's First Baptist Church in 2004. Now, he serves on its Board of Directors.

Brother John served as Pastor of Houston's First from 1970-2000 and continues to use his gifts for His kingdom.

First Baptist Academy

A ministry of Houston's First since 1980, FBA is "dedicated to fulfilling its mission to glorify God, be a witness for Jesus Christ to the world, and equip students by teaching about God's world in the light of God's Word within a challenging college-preparatory curriculum. Founded as a ministry of Houston's First in 1981, First Place 4 Health has grown into an international weight-loss and nutrition ministry "dedicated to providing quality information for development of a physical, emotional and spiritual environment leading to a life that honors God in Jesus Christ."

Houston Christian High School

Houston's First is honored to be one of the founding churches of this Christ-centered college preparatory school "dedicated to the highest academic standards for the development of moral character, the enrichment of spiritual lives, and the perpetuation of growth in Christian ideals."

Inspire Women

Houston's First member Anita Carman is the Founder and President of this organization whose mission is "to inspire women across ethnicities, denominations and economic levels to connect their lives with God's purpose and to fund biblical resources and scholarships to train women for maximum missions and service."

Joined At The Hip

Houston's First members Malcolm & Stacey Marshall are the founders of Joined At The Hip, a Christian parachurch ministry that "seeks to edify, encourage and enlighten the people of God by teaching the practical application of biblical principles through Bible studies, conferences, devotionals, discipleship and urban gospel music." Malcolm also serves as Associate Minister of Connection & Community at Houston's First.

Founded by Houston's First member Beth Moore, Living Proof Ministries is "dedicated to Biblical literacy and a commitment to guide believers to love and live on God's Word."

Pray the Word Ministries

Houston's First member Mary Ann Bridgwater is the Founder and President of this "inter-denominational Christ-centered ministry committed to teaching, assisting, mobilizing and networking with Christians and ministries for intercessory prayer and spiritual growth."

Totally Captivated Ministries

Founded by Houston's First member Tammie Head, Totally Captivated Ministries' driving force is "to exalt, above all things, Jesus’ wonderful Name and glorious Word in our generation through teaching, speaking and writing materials."

Woodhaven Baptist Deaf Church

A ministry of Houston's First, Woodhaven Baptist Deaf Church, "under the authority of Jesus Christ, is established for the purpose of worshipping God, ministering to everyone, evangelizing unbelievers, fellowshipping in God’s love, and discipling believers."
