Kickoff Sunday 2026
Fall is officially underway at Houston’s First! On Sun, Aug 16, our campuses came alive with the excitement of a new school year as kids and students moved into their new Life Bible Studies and adults kicked off new LBS classes. From full classrooms to new faces and fresh connections, Kickoff Sunday was a celebration of all that God is already doing and all that is still to come.
Kickoff Sunday is one of our favorite days of the year, not simply because of the activities happening across our campuses, but because of the anticipation that comes with a fresh start. A new school year brings new opportunities to grow, build relationships, and take the next step in faith. We look forward to seeing how God will move in remarkable ways through our church, our families, and our Life Bible Studies this fall.
Moving With God Together
Pastor Gregg also started a new sermon series called “Moving With God Together.” As we continue walking through the Old Testament, we are reminded that God is always at work and always has a plan, even when we cannot fully understand what He is doing. We may not always see what is ahead, but we can trust the One who does.
That reminder is especially true as students begin a new school year. A new year can bring excitement, but it can also bring uncertainty, pressure, and various challenges. While the school year may not always be easy, we can have confidence that God is already there, preparing the way and inviting us to walk alongside Him.
Whatever this year holds, students do not have to face it alone. God has a purpose for every season, and when we choose to move with Him, we can trust that He is leading us somewhere good. As families begin this new chapter, may we remember that we are not simply moving into a new school year; rather, we are moving with God together.
Make Space for More
Make Space for More is an ongoing initiative designed to help create a welcoming environment for everyone who walks through our doors. Over the past year, we have encouraged regular attendees to consider parking at one of our offsite parking locations as a simple way to serve others and help make room for guests.
During Kickoff Sunday, we especially encouraged our regular attendees to park offsite or join us at The4. Both options offer great benefits! When you park at the Marq*E, you can enjoy covered parking and complimentary shuttles to campus, while also receiving entries into our monthly drawings when you check in. The4 also provides a great opportunity for those who may not be connected to a Life Bible Study to find community in a smaller, more relaxed environment.
When you choose an offsite parking option, you are doing something simple that can make a meaningful difference. You are helping create an environment where guests feel welcomed and have the opportunity to encounter Jesus. Making space is more than finding a parking spot; it is one way we can serve others and move together as a church.
Overall, we are so expectant for all that God has in store throughout the 2026–2027 school year! We are excited to see how He will move in the lives of our students, families, and church community, and we look forward to all He will accomplish in and through us!
