What I Almost Didn’t Do
I Almost Didn’t Go

All of us have stepped out of our comfort zones at some point. Maybe it was inviting someone to coffee, bringing a neighbor a sweet treat, or going on a mission trip that made us nervous. Each time we took that step of faith, lives were changed.

One Gospel conversation can plant a seed that leads someone to give their life to Christ.

The staff at Houston’s First have hundreds of stories like this. Each one shows something we almost did not do, and because we did, someone turned from their old life to walk with the Lord.

In this series, our staff will share some of those moments in their own words: the nerves, the nudge from the Holy Spirit, and what happened when they said yes.

Who is the Lord asking you to reach out to today? Read on, and let this story encourage you to take that step.

Peter Lee’s Story:

While in college, there was a witnessing outing with the Korea Campus Crusade for Christ that I was part of. Initially, I was hesitant and unsure whether to go; however, I did and God worked through my yes.

That day, I had the chance to share the Gospel with a fellow student. He had grown up in the faith, but at that point in his life, he felt far from the Lord. As we talked, God gave me the words to say, and by the end of our conversation, he was encouraged.

A few months later, I ran into him again. He shared how God used that one conversation to draw him back to God. He then shared that he was now connected to a church and was growing in his faith.

I almost stayed home that day, but my small “yes” became part of a much bigger story that God was already writing.

Every conversation has the potential to plant a seed. In Peter’s case, God used one Gospel conversation to draw someone back to Himself. He can use you, too!

Who is He asking you to talk to this week? All it takes is a “yes.”

Peter Lee has been part of the Houston’s First staff for over 16 years and now serves as the Executive Pastor of our Downtown Campus.

What began with one hesitant “yes” in college has grown into a life of Gospel conversations, and God continues to work in and through him as he shares the hope of Christ with others.
